Arbour Lake is the only lake community in NW Calgary, boasting a 10-acre trout-stocked lake, unsurpassed mountain views from its hillside location, and a plethora of parks and walkways. It is really a neighbourhood that has it all!

Due to the deep sense of community, many families will have fond memories of owning homes in Arbour Lake. On Arbour Lake, recreation opportunities abound, with swimming, boating, fishing, and skating offered at the Arbour Lake Community Centre throughout the year. The newly constructed Crowfoot Library is also within the community, offering breathtaking mountain views and access to tools for learning, enrichment, exercise and enjoyment. Walking routes, ravines, and greenbelts make this beautiful region a city that is very walk-friendly. The Melcor YMCA is located in the community’s southeast corner and has a variety of activities

Schools

St. Ambrose Elementary / Junior High School serving grades K-9 and offers a special atmosphere for Catholic learning. The school is now part of the Skills Academy for Hockey Canada. Throughout the year, students admitted into the programme undergo both on-ice and off-ice ability development instruction.

Arbour Lake School: With over 800 students, Arbour Lake School is home to grades 5- 9 and is a large middle school that aims to personalize learning for its students. Teachers will spend ample time with each student to understand their ability with a special homeroom structure. The school provides students with the ability to pursue several avenues, from the foundations of fine arts to career and technology.

Robert Thirsk High School: A brand new high school in Arbour Lake, which opened its doors in 2013, is Robert Thirsk High School serving grades 10-12. Located next to the Crowfoot Public Library, it is noted for its customized and cooperative learning approach. A top-notch performing arts programme, as well as a state-of-the-art kitchen with excellent culinary programmes, are certainly highlights of this amazing school.

Arbour Lake Community Association

The Arbour Lake Community Centre, which offers many services in the winter and summer, is at the centre of the neighbourhood. Whether skating, swimming or taking in the view, residents of the waterfront homes of Arbour Lake will enjoy living all year round on the lakeside. Cycle trails and walking paths surround the lake, and children and sports enthusiasts of all kinds are attracted by a large regional park. A full-time activity organizer who organizes swimming, canoeing, and tennis lessons, as well as group activities for all residents, is employed by the Arbour Lake Residents Association. The Arbour Lake Residents Association manages the recreational facilities surrounding the lake and the group offers an organizer to arrange events for both children and adults to bring together fishing derbies, skating parties, tennis lessons and several other events.

Arbour Lake Shopping, Restaurants and Professional Services

Arbour Lake is situated next to Crowfoot Crossing, one of Calgary‘s biggest outdoor malls, Arbour Lake residents have access to over 240 shops and services. There are many dining, shopping and entertainment options inside Crowfoot Crossing, including Lowes, Cineplex Odeon Theatres, Calgary Co-op, Safeway, Chapters Books, plus a host of boutique shops. Crowfoot also has some excellent dining options, including a Keg, Joey’s Crowfoot, Brewsters to name a few. For residents that need to take public transit to work access Via the Crowfoot LRT station to downtown is also fast and convenient.

Arbour Lake Recreation Facilities

In addition to the Arbour Lake community center, the Melcor YMCA in Crowfoot has served northwest Calgary as a lively community centre for the past 20 years. The YMCA ensures that everyone has the opportunity to belong, develop, succeed and lead, through quality programmes and services aimed at addressing the needs of children, young people and families. The Melcor YMCA offer swimming, weight floor, fitness classes, gymnasium sports and much more.

Transit in Arbour Lake

The Crowfoot CTrain is also located here and is located in the central part of the community on the West side of the community. City busses also frequent the neighbourhood taking residents to the CTrain station. The newly constructed Stoney Trail ring road borders Arbour Lakes North West side, enabling the Trans Canada Highway, Queen Elizabeth Highway (QE2) and Deerfoot Trail to be easily accessed and soon to be SW Calgary with the West completion of Stoney Trail.

Arbour Lake Crime Rates/Statistics

The majority of crimes in Arbour Lake are focused on vandalism and vehicle-related robberies, making Arbour Lake a reasonably secure neighbourhood.
