Banff Trail Community Association
The Banff Trail Community Association was founded in 1954 to meet the many needs of its individuals, many of whom were young families just starting out. Their kids were searching for social & recreational events that went beyond playing in “The Gulley” and using cardboard as mounds of construction dirt covered by sleds down snow.
Parents often wanted a social outlet, outside of the operations of their children. Very soon, square dancing became popular and out of that came the Banff Vans, a devoted community of residents whose love for dancing won them a place in the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics opening ceremonies.
Many years later the Banff Trail Community Association is still going strong. The Community Hall is now 53 years old, and over the years it has had the occasional facelift. With the introduction of soccer, as well as casinos, Stampede breakfasts and BBQs, New Year’s Eve parties and they also have the pleasure of the famous Monday Night Jam sessions, social activities are on the rise.
