Beddington Calgary NeighbourhoodEstablished in 1979, Beddington is a mature community and provides a wide range of housing-including townhomes, duplexes, and detached homes. With its affordable housing and community amenities, such as schools, shopping and transportation, Beddington is a popular attraction for many home buyers.

Beddington Heights Heights Calgary was originally a CPR station and is one of the largest neighbourhoods in the city. The community is situated near Deerfoot Trail, just off Beddington Heights Trail, and provides very affordable housing.

From Beddington Heights, Nose Hill Park is readily accessible, as are a multitude of shopping options, including Beddington Town Centre, Country Hills Town Centre, and Centre Street. In general, the neighbourhood has great access to Downtown Calgary, as well as other areas of the city.

Nosehill Park is one of Canada’s largest urban parks and includes numerous trails and walking trails, a small lake and stunning city and mountain views. Nosehill provides dog owners with miles of off-lease trails to enjoy as well.  You can also often see whitetail deer almost everywhere in Nosehill Park.  

Schools

Many families choosing to live in Beddington would appreciate getting 2 elementary schools right in the neighbourhood, Beddington Heights Elementary (Public) and St. Bede Beddington Heights SchoolElementary (Catholic). Sir John A. MacDonald Junior High in neighbouring Huntington Hills, and John G. Diefenbaker High School. In addition, both public and private schools are located in the neighbourhood, making Beddington Heights a great location for families with various school needs for their children. There are also many bilingual schools as well in the neighbourhood.

Beddington Heights Community Association

The Beddington Heights Community Association provides students access to the long-running pre-and post-school program. The Community Association offers accessible childcare to residents of Beddington Heights and neighbouring communities. The neighbourhood group also organizes summer camps while school is out. In addition, the centre has a nursery, a gym, a large field, an ice rink and a fitness centre. In order to meet the needs of the growing community, the Calgary Community Theatre Ltd. has taken over the management of the Community Centre.

Beddington Heights Shopping, Restaurants and Professional Services

Beddington boasts a prime location with easy access to all the shopping in the area in Northwest Calgary. The Beddington Town Centre, anchored by Safeway and a variety of retailers, is located in the middle of the neighbourhood. Right across the street, you can find the Beddington Co-op Center and the smaller Beddington Village Shopping Centre. Harvest Hills Crossing, with its retail shops and restaurants, is situated in the North, with the Asian food market TnT as the central tenant. Significant traffic arteries such as Shaganappi Trail and John Laurier Boulevard are also within easy reach of other shopping destinations, such as the Market Mall, the Creekside Shopping Center and the Country Hills Town Centre.

Beddington Heights Recreation Facilities

At 375 Bermuda Drive NW, the Beddington Community Association is based out of its community hall, where residents enjoy such facilities as childcare, banquet halls and a gym, an after-school facility, large playgrounds and an ice rink/skateboarding park. There are a number of sports and arts programmes offered. There are a number of sports fields and playgrounds, and along Beddington‘s Western boundaries in Nose Hill Park.

Transit in Beddington Heights

Beddington Heights is currently not close to a CTrain line however the community has good bus routes, taxis and Ubers are always great options.  As for driving a vehicle, Beddington has numerous weel kept roads that are cleared in the winter buy the city of Calgary and provide easy access to any part of the city.

Beddington Heights Crime Rates/Statistics

The majority of crimes in Beddington Heights are focused on vandalism and vehicle-related robberies, making Royal Oak a reasonably secure neighbourhood.  It is always advisable to invest in a good security system complete with monitoring as well as regularly locking doors and windows both on homes and vehicles.  Visit the City of Calgary Crime Map for a more comprehensive overview.
